Clinical Guidance

How to assess symptoms and act early

For oncology support in Tangier, seek rapid assessment when treatment side effects, new pain, fever, or functional decline appears.

Symptom guide

Oncology triage focuses on infection risk during treatment, hydration status, pain control, respiratory symptoms, and neurologic changes.

When to request same-day medical help

  • Cancer-related pain, fatigue, nausea, or appetite loss is worsening.
  • Treatment side effects are persistent and not controlled by routine measures.
  • New cough, weight loss, weakness, or functional decline needs reassessment.
  • Care plan monitoring is overdue with new active symptoms.

Emergency warning signs (call now)

  • Fever during chemotherapy or immunosuppression.
  • Uncontrolled vomiting, dehydration, or severe uncontrolled pain.
  • Sudden neurologic deficits, confusion, or seizure.
  • Breathing difficulty, chest pain, or significant bleeding.

What to do while waiting for the doctor

  • Record temperature and symptom timeline accurately.
  • Maintain hydration if tolerated and avoid infection exposure.
  • Do not stop cancer medications without clinical advice unless emergency instructed.
  • Prepare oncology protocol, latest labs, and medication list.

Good outcomes usually come from early escalation, clear symptom tracking, and disciplined waiting steps.
