LEVOFLOXACINE ZYDUS 500 mg, film-coated scoreable tablet contains an active substance called levofloxacin. It belongs to a group of medicines called antibiotics. Levofloxacin is a "quinolone" type antibiotic. It works by killing the bacteria responsible for infections in your body. LEVOFLOXACINE ZYDUS 500 mg, film-coated scoreable tablet can be used to treat infections: · of the sinuses; · of the lungs, in people with chronic respiratory problems or pneumonia; · of the urinary tract, particularly in the kidneys or bladder; · of the prostate, when you have a persistent infection; · of the skin and subcutaneous tissues, including muscles. This is sometimes referred to as "soft tissues". In certain particular situations, LEVOFLOXACINE ZYDUS 500 mg, film-coated scoreable tablet may be used to reduce the risks of contracting a lung disease called anthrax or the risks of worsening the disease after exposure to the bacteria responsible for anthrax.
